He announced a $1.3 billion investment over the next three years to improve AI infrastructure and launch efforts to promote digital and AI capabilities. This includes the Artificial Intelligence National Capabilities Initiative, which aims to increase access to AI capabilities by reaching 5 million individuals. The investment will also focus on increasing connectivity and supporting AI usage among small and medium-sized firms to speed up their digital transformation and business operations within the country.

Expansion of AI Infrastructure and Innovation for the Mexican AI Ecosystem
Microsoft reiterates its commitment to Mexico’s ongoing economic and social development, emphasizing the role of AI as a foundational technology with transformative capabilities to help solve societal problems, improve human productivity, and cybersecurity, make businesses more competitive, and expand social and economic opportunities in the country.
The Microsoft AI Access Principles, which were developed to promote innovation and healthy competition within the quickly expanding AI economy, will govern the operation of this infrastructure. They reflect Microsoft’s growing role and responsibility as an AI leader and commit the company to investing, forging business partnerships, and developing programs that ensure broad access to its AI technology, empowering organizations and individuals to develop and use AI in ways that benefit the public good.
Successful instances of AI adoption in Mexico include Grupo Bimbo, Tec de Monterrey, and Cemex, which are companies and educational institutions. Tecnológico de Monterrey has created Tecgpt, its own platform powered by Microsoft generative AI, to improve the learning process and promote efficiency and productivity among students, professors, and other personnel. It is one of the first of its kind in Latin America. Furthermore, Cemex has integrated Microsoft AI solutions, which have greatly increased productivity and operational efficiency, as well as altered numerous business areas, including as sales, production, and supply chain, with the introduction of Technical Xpert, an AI-powered copilot.
Microsoft unveiled the Artificial Intelligence National capabilities Initiative, which aims to expand access to AI capabilities by training 5 million individuals in collaboration with governments, industry, academia, and civil society. Microsoft will continue to invest in AI applications, utilizing the AI for Good program, to solve health, connectivity, and sustainability concerns in Mexico. Microsoft prioritizes sustainability by investing in renewable energy sources via Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with contracts for over 34 GW of renewable energy in 24 countries. They intend to accelerate renewable energy markets worldwide and push for clean energy alternatives.
Microsoft in Mexico is committed to increasing clean water access and sanitation solutions, as well as rehabilitating ecosystems. They aspire to be carbon-negative by 2030 and have collaborated with The Next 150 and Toroto SAPI de CV on initiatives in Guanajuato and Campeche to remove tons of CO2. These projects benefit local farmers and biodiversity, which aligns with Microsoft’s emphasis on community impact.
