India is emerging as a global leader in the adoption of Generative AI technology, with a recent survey indicating that an impressive 81% of the country’s enterprises have already deployed AI solutions. This remarkable number highlights India’s quick adoption of innovative technology across a variety of sectors, putting it at the forefront of the global AI revolution.
The report, released by a leading technology research firm, highlights that Indian companies are increasingly understanding the transformative potential of Generative AI to boost productivity, improve operations, and fuel innovation. Healthcare, finance, retail, and manufacturing are leading the way in AI adoption, with applications ranging from automating customer service to optimizing supply chain management.
According to a recent survey by Elastic, a Search Analytics firm, 81% of Indian organizations have used Generative AI (GenAI), cementing India’s status as a technology leader. The survey predicts a rise in investments and budget allocations for AI efforts in the next few years.
IT service companies are reportedly integrating GenAI into their core development processes. This technology enables developers to write more efficient code, automate numerous activities, and increase client delivery times, hence increasing productivity. By minimizing manual input and providing code ideas, AI has the potential to shorten project deadlines, enabling businesses to assess the efficiency of their AI upskilling initiatives.
Managing Director of EPAM India Srinivas Reddy pointed out that integrating AI into IT operations changes engineering workflows in addition to automating procedures. He stated that EPAM’s upskilling programs are aimed at providing engineers with capabilities in tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot. Currently, about 4,000 engineers have received training on core prompt approaches, with over 2,500 gaining expertise in the AI-integrated Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Reddy identified three main areas of concentration for EPAM: AI operations, AI-enabled SDLC, and AI-assisted onboarding. AI operations aim to improve company performance, whereas AI-enabled SDLC employs GenAI to simplify project scope creation and update outdated systems. AI-assisted onboarding attempts to speed up access to project information, allowing new team members to contribute productively.
The emphasis on AI skills development inside IT organizations is increasingly linked with improving client speed and productivity across the project lifecycle. A comprehensive framework that includes GenAI solutions is required for tackling key business difficulties, such as setting baseline measures and delivering hands-on coaching via workshops.
Elaina Shekhter, EPAM’s Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer, underlined the need for a comprehensive strategy for AI upskilling, which includes a helpful toolbox for software development as well as activities to build an engaging learning environment.
As India continues to lead in GenAI adoption, industry experts recommend that the government take a proactive approach to create a supportive regulatory framework that fosters innovation while upholding ethical norms.
