Mumbai City FC took the lead in the 39th minute when Brandon Fernandes sent a pass to Changate. Scored a goal to give Mumbai a 1-0 advantage before the first break. Karelis doubled their lead to 2-0 following a save from the East Bengal goalkeeper.
War against East Bengal
Mumbai continued to press in the second half but Karelis missed another chance. East Bengal cut the deficit to 2-1 with Mumbai scoring an own goal in the 65th minute.
Late equalizer from East Bengal
East Bengal’s David Lalhlansang scored in the 83rd minute to tie the score 2-2 and the match intensified as both teams searched for the decisive goal.
Karelis seals victory for Mumbai
As the match drew to a close, Mumbai substitute Nathan Rodriguez played a key role in the final round. He assisted Nicholas Karelis, who scored the decisive goal to give Mumbai FC a 3-2 victory.
